Here is an example of play from skype using the dice testing thread for the rolls

Nathan Riddell: Ok, your in an old library performing research on a crature that appears to be entangled with a local legend. You need to roll MIND + any relevant modifiers.

Nathan Riddell: You bring in the traits you think might be applicable and I will approve the suitable ones until we have your final dice pool

Tristan: quick learn

Nathan Riddell: Cool I will say computers is relevant too because it has an old data base at the library. So MIND (6) + Quick Learner (1) + Computers (1) = 8.

Nathan Riddell: Roll 8d6

Tristan: ok

Tristan: ok rolled

Tristan: yeah i will find a new pic or just draw one

Nathan Riddell: Righto add the two highest dice together

Tristan: 4 6

Nathan Riddell: 10 you have no problems. When the founders of the town arrived they took a photo, someone who looks like one of the founders seems to keep popping up in news clippings, even though he has been trying to cover his tracks. He seems to have accidentally started the myth.

Nathan Riddell: If you perform an un opposed task you are trying to get 7 or more. The amount you beat it by is how fast and well you did.

Nathan Riddell: Roll MIND + Survival = 7

Nathan Riddell: MIND is your perception stat and survival is your motivation, you are rolling to see if you hear someone entering the library. You broke in no one else is supposed to be here

Tristan: i get up and stand with my back flat aginst the wall beside the handle side of the door

Nathan Riddell: After a short while you hear footsteps, then the door knob turns. The founder's wife slips through the door with a knife in her hand.

Tristan: i kick the knife out of her hand

Nathan Riddell: That will be a BODY roll plus anything else you and I can agree applies.

Nathan Riddell: BODY (2) + Survival (1) = 3

Nathan Riddell: Survival is an obvious choice you are trying not to get stabbed, if she didnt have a knife survival would have been less applicable, it would just be a woman going through the door

Nathan Riddell: I will roll for the weird founder's wife MIND(2) + sharp eyes(1) + Predatory(1)= 4

Nathan Riddell: Nice. Other rolled dice can be added to the dice total when you use your symbiote sometimes.

Nathan Riddell: A look of surprise crosses her face as the knife flies out of her hand and clatters away in the darkness

Nathan Riddell: She turns to you with a feral look in her eyes

Nathan Riddell: Her eyes go wide as a rip starts from the bottom of her chin and opens all the way down to her stomach. Tentacles spill out some with eyeless mouths, some with blade like claws, others are just tentacles.

Nathan Riddell: They uncoil and lash out at you.

Tristan: ooc is there a window

Nathan Riddell: Yup and you are in a 1 story building

Tristan: sweet i side step and bolt for the window

Tristan: body, survival

Nathan Riddell: Roll 3d6

Tristan: 5-3

Nathan Riddell: It is going to attack with BODY 4 (now that it is out of its shell) + Predatory 1 = 5

Nathan Riddell: She got 12 (6+6) vs your 8 (5+3)

Nathan Riddell: she rolled 4 higher than you so that is the damage + weapons (2) = 6

Nathan Riddell: You lose 6 LIFE

Nathan Riddell: As you dive for the window the things tentacles rake bite and grab you, pulling you back

Nathan Riddell: when your LIFE hits half you have a -1 penalty to all rolls, that becomes -2 when you drop to 3 or less

Nathan Riddell: In this game your character doesnt die when he hits 0 unless you want to make a new character. He is just messed up and out of action.

You try to push your flenser into action, it resists squirming in your mouth cutting the inside of your cheek in the process before settling back into it's pocket dimension.

Meanwhile the other tentacled horror continues to strangle bite and cut you. You slip unconscious as someone kicks open a door behind you.

You awaken in a corner of the library in the same room the creature attacked you, it is trashed, the computer lies broken on the floor, a shelf nearby is toppled and books are scattered everywhere.

One of your cell members is leaning over you, lightly resting his hands on your wounds. It seems Church is using his knitter Hive to heal you.
The rest of the cell are nowhere to be seen and no one else is around.

What happened is you were fucken lucky sunshine.
He helps prop you up against the wall and puts your gun into your hand.
We kicked in the door just as the hollower was about to turn you into a skinsuit, Clove and Miles are after it right now.

"fuck alright then" i stand up and ready my self to follow church. i ready my gun.

You sure? How are you feeling? Church looks ready to catch you if you fall. It was a bit of a rushed patch up

Suddenly, you hear running footsteps and a slithering chittering sound coming closer outside in the rain.

i pick some thing small and heavy up that i can throw as far as i can see into the house. and wait and see what happens with gun ready.

The tentacled horror is still half hanging out of the wife's body, when it leaps through the remains of the window.
Its mouths screech at you as the barbed tentacles rise up to strike.

He misses, and lands heavily in the corner. Both quickly surge to their feet.

The flenser wriggles out of its pocket dimension for a sec before angrily squirming back in. You now have two points of STRAIN, do you want to try again?
